- WEF organised a public meeting to introduce Agenda 21 and subsequently provided input to the Local Agenda 21 Action Plan, a key document of the Wandsworth Community Strategy
- We have worked with two groups of young people to create murals to raise awareness of environmental issues
- We have organised a seminar on Renewable Technologies and a public meeting on Waste and Energy
- We hosted a meeting of local groups concerned with rivers and waterways, which gave rise the annual Wandle Valley Festival
- WEF has responded to Council consultations on sustainability issues including Air Quality, Transport, Open Spaces, Town Centres, Community Strategy, Local Area Agreements
WEF's current action areas:
- Planning and Policy - assessing how development decisions affect our surroundings. WEF is a member of the Wandsworth Local Strategic Partnership.
- Waste Minimisation - how to reduce our use of materials such as excess packaging and how to consider waste as a valuable resource
- Energy - using energy wisely and making better use of renewable technologies in order to reduce reliance on fossil and nuclear fuels. Emphasis on Climate Change and Peak Oil: how to make cuts in our carbon emissions. We can prevent the worst effects of climate change by starting to reduce emissions now and helping others to do so. - Green Pledge - helping to strengthen the Wandsworth 'Greener Borough' initiative through increasing community activity
